This Is A Simple Guide to the Most Common Problems.

 

Arthritis
~ Make a cup of White Willow Bark Tea.
You will need 1 tsp. of white willow bark and a cup of boiling water. Combine the two and cover for 15 minutes. Once time is up, strain the bark and drink this three times a day.

 
Athlete’s Foot
~ Tea Tree Oil to get rid of the fungus.
Dilute 5 to 7 drops of tea tree essential oil in 4 oz. of warm water in the tub and soak once a day for 20 minutes. After each soak pat dry your feet with a clean towel and cover with clean cotton socks. Do this for five days. For nail fungus do as above or use the diluted tea oil and apply directly on infected nail with a cotton swab and cover with bandage.

 
Bad Breath
~ Chew on some Cardamom.

~ Drink some flavored Peppermint Tea.

 
Bronchitis
~ Eat some garlic.
Eat one clove of garlic during the day or take an enteric-coated garlic tablet.

~ Drink a glass of Elecampane.
Mix 1 C. of cold water with 1 tsp. of shredded elecampane in a saucepan and simmer for 15 minutes. Drink a cup of this three times a day.

~ Make a Thyme chest rub.
Mix 10 drops of essential oil into 1 tsp. of almond oil and mix.

 
Bad Burns
~ Rub some soothing Aloe on the burn.
If you own an aloe plant, cut off an outer leaf of the plant and then slice open lengthwise. You will see some clear gel that oozes out; if not then squeeze the torn leaf. Rub this gel on the burn. You can apply this several times a day. If you don’t own a plant you can purchase aloe vera gel at a local drug store.

 
Bruises
~ Apply Arnica to bruise immediately.
Only apply on UNBROKEN skin since arnica is toxic if absorbed internally. Apply arnica cream or make a compress and apply to the bruised area. To make an arnica compress, add 50 drops of arnica extract to a cup of warm water and soak a cloth in it. Lay on your skin for 20 minutes. If you feel a swelling coming on you may also alternate between the compress and a ice pack for a couple of hours.

 
Canker Sores
~ Take Vitamin C.
Usually canker sores are due to vitamin C deficiency so take the recommended daily dosage of this vitamin.

~ Rinse your mouth out with Echinacea.
Add a drop or two to a glass of water and rinse your mouth two to three times a day.
 

 

Chapped Lips

Cold and Flu
~ Use Astragalus.
Make a tea by combining 1 tsp. of the herb per cup of boiling water and let it stand in a covered pot for 10 minutes.

 

~ Use Echinacea.
Whether you put a drop in your beverage, or put under your tongue, you should have Echinacea in your system.

~ Take a bath with Tea Tree oil.
Add a few drops of tea tree oil to your bath and soak in it as long as you can.

 
Congestion
~ Make some homemade ginger tea.
Add 1 Tbs. of grated fresh ginger for every cup of boiling water. Strain it and add some lemon and a dash of cayenne to the mixture and drink.

~ Open up your sinuses with some Horseradish.
The best way to get horseradish into your system is to ingest it. Add a tsp. or so onto some crackers and eat.

 
Constipation
~ Try Flaxseed.
Add 2 Tbs. of flaxseed to an 8 oz. glass of water (room temperature) and let stand for 15 minutes. This mixture will come somewhat of a gelatin-like substance. Only drink at night and when you wakeup next morning let you body react to the drink before you go to work. You can also sprinkle a tsp. of flaxseed to any salad.

~ Instead of flaxseed use Psyllium.
Take 1 Tbs. of the powder every morning.

~ Use Dandelion for relief.
Add between 15-30 drops of dandelion root tincture in 1/4 C. of water. Drink slowly by holding each mouthful for about a minute. Do this three times a day.

 
Coughs
~ Suck on some Slippery Elm.
Buy some slippery elm cough drops at your health food store.

~ Give your throat some Thyme.
To prepare thyme tea, add 1 tsp. of thyme leaves and add to a cup of boiling water. Let stand for five minutes and then strain and drink.

 
Cuts and Scrapes
~ Use Witch Hazel to soothe scrapes.
Witch hazel is known to protect open skin from infection.

~ Disinfect with tea tree oil.
Add 5 drops of tea tree oil into 1/4 C. of water to fend off bacteria.

~ Use the combination of garlic and wine.
Crush a clove of garlic and add to a cup of wine, let stand for a minute and then apply the liquid to your cut.

~ Dab some St.-John’s-Wort to your scrape or cut.
Dip a cotton swab into the oil and apply directly to the cut.

 
Dandruff
~ Rinse with Rosemary.
Use 2 Tbs. of dried rosemary leaf and add to a cup of boiling water. Let steep for 20 minutes and then strain and cool. Use this as a hair rinse after shampooing.

~ Massage Jojoba oil in hair.
Add 5 drops of either rosemary, sage or lavender oil to 1 oz. of jojoba oil and massage into scalp. Cover with plastic bag for 30 minutes.

 
Dry Skin
~ Make an Oatmeal paste.
Use ground oats mixed with cream or whole milk to form a paste. Let site for a few minutes and gently scrub on face and rinse.

 
Ear Infections
~ Keep some Mullein Flower Oil handy.
Place two to three drops of this in affected ear. Cover your ear with cloth to keep oil from dripping out. Apply every six to eight hours.

~ Mix Mullein Oil with Garlic Oil.
Apply four drops in affected ear then cover with cloth, repeat every four to six hours as needed.

 
Diarrhea
~ Use cinnamon tea for an emergency.
Mix a Tbs. of dried powdered cinnamon bark into a C. of hot water and let stand for 15 minutes and drink.

~ Take a natural fiber source such as Psyllium.

~ Try Bayberry.
Make an infusion by mixing 1 Tbs. of dried leaves to 1 C. of boiling water. Let simmer and stand for 15 minutes. Only drink half of the mixture and save the rest to take later than same day.

 
Eczema
~ Sooth skin with Slippery Elm.
Combine water and enough slippery elm to make a thin paste and apply to infected skin. Leave on skin for up to four hours or until it dries. Wash off with warm water and pat dry.

 
Fever
~ Use Boneset mixed with honey.
Mix 1 Tbs. of boneset per cup of boiling water and let stand for 10 minutes. Add honey or peppermint tea for a better taste. Drink three times daily.

~ Break a fever with Elderflower.
To make the tea, place 2 tsp. on this into a cup and pour 1 C. of boiling water over the herbs. Cover, and let infuse for 15 minutes. Drink three times daily.

~ Sweat it out with Yarrow.
Make tea by mixing 1 Tbs. of the herb per 1 C. of hot water. Cover and let stand for 10 minutes and drink this three times daily.

 
Headaches/Migraines
~ Take some Ginkgo Capsules.
Take 40 mg capsules two to three times a day. Do not take these if you are taking aspirin or any non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medicines.

~ Use Ginger in your food.
Grate some fresh ginger and add to any of your food dishes or juices.

~ Try nature’s aspirin, Salicin, found in Willow Bark.
Take three to five milliliters of willow bark extract every two hours until migraine is gone.

 
Heartburn
~ Help heartburn disappear with Chamomile Tea.
To make chamomile tea, add 1 Tbs. of whole dried chamomile flowers to 1 C. of hot water and let sit for 15 minutes. Strain and drink.

~ Eat Licorice before meals to prevent heartburn.
Take two licorice capsules before each meal to prevent any heartburn that might occur after eating.

~ Sip on Meadowsweet tea for relief.
To make meadowsweet tea, add 1 Tbs. of this to 1 C. of hot water and let sit for 15 minutes. Strain and drink one to two cups a day.

 
Indigestion
~ Digest your food better with Gentian Extract.
Put 10-20 drops of this extract in a 1/2 C. of water and drink it 20 minutes before each meal.

~ For dessert chew on some Fennel.
After each meal try chewing on a tsp. of fennel.

 
Insect Bites and Stings
~ Cool the itching with Peppermint essential oil.
Run a tiny drop of peppermint essential oil and onto the center of the insect bit and rub.

~ Use Garlic to take the “bit” away.
Crush a clove of garlic and dab on affected bit or sting. Cover with bandage for 20 minutes and the wash. If the feel is too strong dilute by adding a little salvia on the bit before applying the garlic.

 
Insomnia
~ Use the fragrant herb of Lavender for a good nights sleep.
Rub some lavender oil onto your temples before going to sleep.

~ Make some Lemon Balm tea.
Add 1 to 3 tsp. of dried lemon balm to boiling water. Cover and let sit for 10 minutes and strain. Drink one cup 30 minutes before you go to bed.

~ Go with Chamomile Tea to get the sleep you need.
Add 1 C. of boiling water over 1 Tbs. of dried chamomile and let stand for 10 minutes and strain. Drink one cup before bedtime.

~ Mix up some herbs and make some tea.
Mix up chamomile, skullcap, oatstraw and catnip equally and boil 1 C. of water. Pour the water over 2 tsp. of the herb mixture and let stand for 20 minutes. Strain all the herbs and drink one cup 30 minutes before you go to bed.

 
Irritable Bowel Syndrome
~ Mix meadowsweet with ginger and fennel to make a tea.
You can make the tea with any one of these or combined all three. The total amount of herb should not exceed 1 Tbs. per cup of water.

~ Regulate your system with slippery elm.
Add 1 tsp. of dried slippery elm bark in a cup and slowly mix with warm water. This will form a paste, continue to add water and dilute the paste until it forms a watery tea. Drink this mixture once a day.

 
Jet Lag
~ Inhale these herbs to stay awake.
Dab a drop of one or all oils listed below on a piece of cloth or handkerchief and breathe in every time your eyes get heavy.
Basil - overcomes mental fatigue.
Peppermint – counters metal fogginess.
Rosemary – a nervous system stimulant.
Eucalyptus – an energy enhancer.

 
Menstrual Cramps
~ Get rid of cramps fast by mixing Valerian and Viburnum.
Make a tea by slowing simmering 4 Tbs. of black haw with 1 Tbs. of grated fresh gingerroot in a qt. of water for 20 minutes. After 20 minutes is up turn off heat and add 2 Tbs. each of dried valerian root and dried pennyroyal leaf.  Let this mixture sit for 15 minutes. Strain all herbs and sip 1/4 of the tea every 15 minutes until your cramps disappear. Do not use pennyroyal if pregnant.

 
Muscle Sprains and Strains
~ Use Aromatherapy to take the pain away.
Mix 4 drops of sandalwood oil and lemon oil and 2 Tbs. of witch hazel to your bath oil or basin and soak the aching muscles till the water cools.

~ Rub on Tiger Balm.
You can find this at any health food store.

 
Nausea and Vomiting
~ Ginger, Ginger and more Ginger.
Take two capsules or 1 Tbs. of fresh grated ginger a day. If ginger is too strong then pair cinnamon with it. Mix 1 tsp. of dried cinnamon with 1/2 tsp. of grated fresh ginger and to boiling water. Let stand for 15 minutes, strain and drink.

~ Don’t like ginger, substitute with Peppermint.
Add 1 Tbs. of fresh peppermint leaves into a cup of boiling water. Cover the glass and let stand for 5 minutes. Strain and drink.

~ Make Meadowsweet tea.
Add 1 Tbs. of dried herb to 1 C. of boiling water. Let stand for 15 minutes, strain and sip the drink slowly.

 
Puffy Eyes
~ Rely on Chamomile Tea bags.
Just wet two tea bags with warm water, let them stand for a couple of minutes and then apply to closed eyes for 5-10 minutes.

 
Sunburns

~ Combine Aloe and Lavender to make an herbal soother.
Combine 4 oz. of aloe vera gel, 1/2 tsp. of lavender oil, 2 capsules of vitamin E oil and 1 tsp. of apple-cider vinegar. Shake mixture and then apply on sunburn. Reapply as needed.

~ Take a bath in Apple-Cider Vinegar.
Fill bathtub with cool water and add a cup of apple-cider vinegar to it. Soak in this.
 

 

Toothache Relief
~ Numb toothache with cloves.
Rub a drop of essential oil of clove directly on your aching tooth.

 
Weight Loss
~ Take Fiber Supplements.
If you are not eating 25 grams of fiber per day then consider taking two dietary fiber supplements three times a day. Swallow the capsules with a full 8 oz. glass of water to avoid constipation.

~ Use Cayenne on food.
If you can handle the heat add a dash of cayenne pepper or a couple of drops of hot sauce to your food several times a day.

~ Drink Green Tea.
Have a cup of green tea with a meal two or three times a day.

 
Wrinkles
~ Take Rose Hips Capsules.
Take capsule of rose hips. Follow directions on bottle before taking.
